Yes, you’ve read it right — almonds can help you lose weight when eaten in moderation.
In year 2013, a study was conducted where participants of both men and women with over and normal weight consumed 43 grams of roasted, slightly salted almonds every day for four weeks, as a substitute for a normal and/or unhealthy snack. As a result, the researchers saw the huge increase on the participants’ Vitamin E and monounsaturated fats without gaining any weight.
Almonds, when consumed as snacks also helps reduce hunger and desire to eat during acute feeding sessions.
But why are they effective supplement for weight loss?
Almonds are low in calories and are rich with Fiber, Vitamin B and Zinc that blocks off cravings for sweet and sugary treats. Oleic oil is also present in this health nut so hunger is relieved faster.
However, eating the same thing over and over again can be a bit boring, right? In fact, that can be the main reason why dieting is hard and often leads to failure. The good thing is there are a lot of healthy trail mixes that can cut the monotony of dieting. While munching on your now favorite snack (almonds, of course!), throw in something new such as raisins, dried fruits or other types of nuts to keep snacking fun and interesting.
